The programme consists of five weeks of intensive course work on five different subjects (optics, mechanics, electronics, software and management) related to the design and construction of astronomical instrumentation. These will be held at the headquarters of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) in La Laguna, Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain). The students will have the opportunity to practice the subjects learned in the courses in an instrument conceptual design project, remotely supervised .

There exists the possibility of enrolling in one or more IScAI courses. Students following this option will not carry out the instrument conceptual design project, nor will graduate from the IScAI.
